Canley Heights PS has an enrolment of 610 students K-6 and 20 preschool students. It is located in South Western Sydney in a low/medium density residential area in the Fairfield Local Government Area with a large portion of families living in Government Housing. Our school is also a feeder to a Women's Refuge for women and children experiencing domestic violence. Our families come from predominately low socio-economic backgrounds. Our 2013 FOIE is 156 which states that we have 463 students/families that are recognised in the first 2 quarters. As a result CHPS teachers work extremely hard to provide our student’s with the best educational teaching and learning programs and to ensure that our students wellbeing is at the forefront of all that we do. Just over 90% of our students come from language backgrounds other than English and are supported by significant EAL/D and Community Language programs as well as targeted literacy and numeracy initiatives.
The school has an ongoing commitment to the development and delivery of quality teaching and learning programs with an emphasis on Literacy and Numeracy. This is achieved through a strong, strategic professional development program for all teaching staff. The integration of technology into all areas of teaching and learning helps create a rich, engaging learning environment for students.
Our school’s purpose is to provide our students with the academic, cultural and social skills they will need for continued lifelong learning and to have positive aspirations for a productive and bright future.
